What is the Watermark Art Award?
Watermark is a biannual competition open to artists of all ages from the novice to the professional. The theme for this event is art inspired by the sea.
The choice of medium is limited only by the imagination. The only requirement is that, regardless of what medium is used, the art piece must reflect some aspect of the sea.
There are numerous prizes to be won. From an Aquisitive Award of $2000 to a Peoples Choice Award: and starting this year, a $250 HAEG Members Award.

Conditions of Entry
- Watermark is a marine art competition open to all art forms. Art should portray some aspect of the sea
- The submitted work must be the original work of the exhibiting artist and not have been exhibited before. Reproductions from originals will not be accepted.
- Prints that are part of an edition produced using traditional print making techniques are accepted but must be numbered accordingly. Any image made using digital or digital print processes must be labeled accordingly.
- Limit of two (2) entries per artist. This includes small pieces; e.g. jewelry. Each piece entered in the exhibition
is available for sale and cannot be a part of a set of pieces that can be sold separately.
- Entry forms must be received by 5pm Friday 2nd March 2007. Postal entries postmarked after 2/3/07 will not be accepted.
- Entry fee is $10.00 per piece of artwork Entry form must
be completed and returned by 5pm -March 2nd. Cheque
to be made payable to HAEG Inc.
Please note: Entry fees are non-refundable.
- All exhibiting artists should contribute to the roster for the exhibition. For those who for good reason cannot participate in the roster, an additional $5.00 (per artist) will be levied.
- All artwork is to be delivered and registered (without packaging) at the artist's expense to the Cygnet Town Hall during the hours of 10.00am-8.00pm Tuesday 6th March 2007
- Entries may be delivered by post or courier to the Cygnet town Hall , however all the works so submitted must include return packaging, delivery fee, completed delivery labels and details of courier.
- This is the last opportunity to submit the title of your artwork or make other changes that will appear in the catalogue.
- Space permitting, all entries will be hung. This will be at the discretion of the Huon Art Exhibition Group. 2D work must be suitably framed ready for hanging with picture hanging wire and screw eyes. Unsatisfactory framing may result in the artwork not being hung. 3D works should, wherever possible, be suitably displayed by the artist. Space permitting, all entries will be exhibited.
- All works must be clearly labelled on the bottom right-hand side of the back, or the underside of the artwork
with the artist's name, contact details and title of the artwork. Entries with special display requirements should be discussed with HAEG before the exhibition. HAEG may choose not to accept the piece.
- All pieces must be dry and stable or will not be accepted.
- Entrants must agree to display their work for the duration of the exhibition.
- HAEG and their associates will exercise all reasonable care in handling the works submitted but will not be responsible for loss of or and damage whatsoever to any works while in the custody of the Group. Artists are advised to insure their work.
- The judges are independent of HAEG and their decision will not be influenced by the organization.
- The judges decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- Members and organizers of HAEG are eligible to compete in the competition.
- All work must be available for legitimate sale and priced accordingly. A 20% commission will be charged on sales.
- Artists are responsible for making their own arrangements for GST.
- Irrespective of selling price, an artist winning a particular prize will only be awarded the amount of prize money or voucher stated.
- The awards will be announced at the Official Opening on Friday 9th March 2007 after 7.30pm
- Entries will be accepted based on the artist's acceptance that their entry could be acquired by a sponsor by winning the $2000 Acquisitive award.
- Artwork can be collected from the exhibition at the Cygnet Town Hall from 5.30pm-6.30pm ONLY on Sunday 25 March or on Monday 26th March 10.00am-4.00pm ONLY. Late pickups of artwork will incur a fee of $20.00 per work.
- After 2 weeks, uncollected work will become the property
of HAEG and may be disposed of at the discretion of the Incorporation.
- Unsold entries which have been posted or couriered will be returned in the same manner providing the return packaging and delivery costs have been provided.

The organization will respond to your complaint. The volunteers who are supervising the exhibition are not in a position to address your complaints.
Dates and Venue
Opening - 7:30 pm Friday 9th March.
Exhibition continues - Thursdays to Sundays (10:00am - 5:00 pm ) until 25th March (including Monday 12th March).
