Opening Night
The Huon Art Awards opening night will be very different in 2021.
The COVID-19 maximum density limit for the Cygnet Town Hall means that at most 120 people can be in the hall at the same time.
There can’t be the usual “everyone is welcome” opening night, so to get as many people along as possible the “Opening Night” event will be spread over two nights – Thursday 4th March and Friday 5th March.
The first night (Thursday 4th March) will be an invitation-only event for sponsors and will be for the presentation of awards to the award winners (as many as can make it at short notice). Judging takes place on the Thursday morning, so as soon as the award winners are determined they will be contacted and invited to the opening event on that night. Award winners may be accompanied by up to one other family member or friend.
The second night (Friday 5th March) will be open for the general public with online pre-booking up to a maximum of 80 people, and the presentation of awards to those award winners who could not make it to the Thursday night. Again, award winners may be accompanied by up to one other family member or friend.
Online booking for one or two free tickets for Friday night will be available on the HAEG website, with a waitlist in place once 80 tickets have been reserved. If a spot opens up from the waitlist, you will be contacted soon after midday on Friday to confirm for Friday night.
To be fair to everyone, please only reserve tickets that you know you will use, or if you have a booking and find you cannot attend please cancel by emailing info@haeg.org.au as soon as possible.
Food and drinks will be provided at both nights in a COVID-safe way.
Both opening nights will start at 6:30pm at the Cygnet Town Hall.
The exhibition will be opened by Bastian Seidel, MLC for Huon on the Thursday night, and by Bob Brown on the Friday night.
