COMPETITION RULES

Registration.  10-11am on the 22nd April 2023 at HAEG’s Lovett Gallery, Cygnet with an entrance fee of $20.00 per entry, with a limit of 2 entries per person, payable at the time of Registration.

Sign in and have your support/canvas/paper for completed work stamped at the gallery on registration.  Unstamped entries will not be accepted.  Surfaces must start off blank.  It is acceptable for support to have a single coloured background, pre-toned canvas, or gessoed surface.

Entries submitted for judging will be an original plein air painting or artwork, including pastel, pencil and mixed media.  No photography, prints or three- dimensional artworks will be accepted.

An artwork label will be supplied as you sign in, please fill in details and return attached to your completed artwork.

This is a plein air competition which means all Entries (the “Artwork”) must be the Entrant’s original work of art created, started and completed by the Entrant while outdoors, within the designated areas of Petcheys Bay, Randalls Bay and Cygnet and anywhere in between over the weekend of Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd April 2023.

Completed artwork to be returned to the Lovett Gallery, Cygnet by 4pm on Sunday 23rd April 2023.

All artworks to be displayed and for sale at the Lovett Gallery for the following two weekends, 29th – 30th April and 6th and 7th May 2023.

Although not a requirement, any effort to aid us in the displaying of your work would be appreciated (i.e. appropriate picture hanging hardware attached to the back of your work).

Prizes to the value of $1,000 will be awarded.  First prize $500, Second prize $300 and Highly Commended $200.

An independent judge/judges will view the artworks the following week and the winners will be announced at a wine and cheese opening at the Lovett Gallery, Cygnet on Friday 28th April at 6pm.

HAEG’s policy of 20% commission for members and 30% for non-members will apply to any sales during the Exhibition.

It is the Entrant’s responsibility to collect any unsold artwork between 3pm and 4pm on Sunday 7th May 2023 or by arrangement with HAEG.
